Navigating Obesity Medication Prior Authorizations

Cate Varney, DO, director of Obesity Medicine at UVA Health, and Renee Kreiner, the prior authorization coordinator for the Obesity Medicine program, will lead this session. They will begin with a brief presentation on the most common challenges encountered with obesity medication prior authorizations, followed by ample time to address your specific questions and clinic concerns about navigating this often-difficult process.

Dr. Varney is an associate professor in the Department of family Medicine with 15 years of experience practicing Obesity Medicine in primary care. Renee has coordinated prior authorizations for the program for the past year and manages more than 1,000 requests annually. Together, their goal is to provide you with practical strategies and knowledge to help increase patient access to these medications.
