Seminar Speaker: Sen Pei, PhD, Department of Environmental Health Sciences at Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the circulation of many seasonal respiratory diseases, including influenza. In this lecture, I will talk about several studies that highlight the impact of COVID-19 on influenza activities in different countries. Evidence of interactions between COVID-19 and influenza at the population, individual, and molecular levels will be discussed.
Dr. Sen Pei is an assistant professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University. He studies the effects of environmental, social, and ecological conditions on infectious diseases and develops mathematical models and computational tools to advance surveillance, forecasting, and control of both seasonal and emerging infectious agents.
