HCDI Conference in fall 2022.
The Housestaff Council for Diversity and Inclusion (HCDI) 6th Annual Trainee Diversity and Inclusion Conference (TDIC) is planned for Saturday, April 13, from 8am – 3pm.
This year, the conference will focus on a pressing issue — housing insecurity and its impact on health outcomes, examining this issue from various perspectives: community, health system, and the political/infrastructural.
Aligning with the National Fair Housing month in April, the theme for this year’s conference is “Bridging Home & Health: Mobilizing Healthcare in the Fight Against Housing Insecurity.” The keynote speaker for the conference is Dr. Calvin Johnson, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Research, Evaluation, and Monitoring at the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) & Commissioner of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
HDCI aims to foster multidisciplinary discussions, engaging community partners, health system intra- and post-hospitalization housing experts, and housing policy experts. By doing so, HCDI seeks to understand the current landscape of housing insecurity comprehensively. The goal is to explore how trainees, faculty, and staff can be attuned to these challenges when caring for patients while discussing effective advocacy strategies to ensure optimal care post-hospitalization despite prevalent structural inequalities.
