From now until December 15th, the Pediatric ICU (7th floor) will have a barrel for a holiday food drive benefitting the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in the west breakroom. Another barrel will be located in the hallway on the 7th floor outside of the West PICU entrance to make it easier for non-staff. Open to all School of Medicine faculty, staff, & students.
The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank provides resources to over 100,000 people, across 25 counties, each month through the development of a food pharmacy, health pantry, mobile food pantry, emergency food boxes, and more. As members of the UVA PICU team, we directly see the effects these resources can provide to the families and patients we serve in the Blue Ridge community. Hunger effects every 1 in 12 children in the Blue Ridge Area. A donation to the food bank can help improve food security and the overall core belief that everyone deserves access to enough food.
