The Department of Urology is excited to host its annual charity fun run, the Bill Steers Memorial 5K, on September 7, 2025. Everyone across the health system is invited to join us at Foxfield for a beautiful race organized by Mark Lorenzoni of Ragged Mountain Running. Participants of all ages and skill levels, from runners to walkers, are welcome at this event.

The Bill Steers Memorial 5K was founded in 2004 by Urology’s department chair at the time, Dr. William D. Steers. Bill partnered with Mark Lorenzoni to create a men’s four-miler that raised awareness of critical men’s health issues. After Bill’s untimely passing in 2015, the race was renamed in his honor. Since then, race organizers (including members of Bill’s family) have updated the race to welcome all runners, changing the distance to a 5K and welcoming every person – men, women, youth, families – to participate. This remains true to Bill’s vision, dedication, and legacy of better health through exercise.

In 2025, all proceeds will benefit prostate cancer research. Kick off Prostate Cancer Awareness Month with a scenic run for a worthy cause. All are welcome to participate in the Bill Steers 5k this year to help us build a better, healthier future through activity, exercise and innovation.
