Person standing at poster presentationThe annual Innovation in Education Week highlights and celebrates educational research and innovations among UVA faculty, staff, fellows, residents, postdocs, graduate students, and medical students. This dedicated week to education in academic medicine seeks to increase interest in scholarship and innovations in teaching and learning more broadly, provide professional development and networking opportunities, and connect the UVA community with internationally known educational researchers.

2024’s theme is focused on the future of AI in education. The week’s exciting lineup of events are detailed below:

  • Throughout the Week: Top research and innovation abstract posters on display outside the Health Sciences Library entrance
  • February 26, 12:00 p.m. | Dean’s Forum on AI | Presented by: Philip Bourne, PhD, Dean, UVA School of Data Science, “Medical Education Seen Through the Lens of Data Science and AI” |  Claude Moore Auditorium
  • February 27, 12:00 p.m. | Keynote Presentation | Presented by: Verity Schaye, MD, MHPE, Associate Professor of Medicine, NYU, “From the Classroom to the Clinical Learning Environment: How Artificial Intelligence Can Transform Medical Education” | Claude Moore Auditorium
  • February 28, 12:00 p.m. | Oral Abstract Presentations | Top research and innovation abstracts selected for presentation. | Pinn Hall G1/G2
  • February 28, 5:00 p.m. | Reception and Awards | Meet the poster and oral presentation authors for discussion and questions. Refreshments provided. | Health Sciences Library
