This conference is designed to provide physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other health care providers, as well as coal miners and their caregivers, with the opportunity to learn about and discuss advances in the diagnosis and treatment of health conditions of miners.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:
- Explain how the NIOSH coal miner health surveillance program operates and how to enroll miners
- Increase the number of coal miners that apply (and receive) state level black lung benefits
- List the unique risk factors that impact the mental health of coal miners
- Detail 2-3 reasons why urgent federal action surrounding silica dust is needed to end the epidemic of black lung in appalachia
