On June 20, 2025, the Office of Graduate Medical Education welcomed a new group of 162 first-year residents to UVA Health from 28 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, as well as 13 countries. In addition to the practical aspects of onboarding, like picking up their work phones, scrubs and long white coats, the interns participated in presentations on wellness, benefits, patient safety, compliance and legal issues. The activities were designed to ensure that they deliver high quality, safe, and empathetic patient care starting with their first day of residency.
We are incredibly proud to have this talented group of residents joining training programs in all of our School of Medicine clinical departments, including Dentistry and Psychology, as well as the UVA Health Pharmacy. They will be joined by 105 upper-level residents and fellows in July.
