On March 21, the UVA School of Medicine Class of 2024 welcomed their patient-teachers to this year’s Patient Student Partnership (PSP) Gratitude Celebration. In the PSP course, students follow a patient experiencing chronic illness for their four years of medical school to experience healthcare from a patient’s perspective and provide context for the knowledge and skills they are acquiring throughout the curriculum. Each year, this celebration serves as a way for students to express gratitude to their patients and to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduating class.
During this hybrid event, students shared reflections on their PSP experiences, verbally and in writing. The formal programming also included an outstanding performance by the Arrhythmics, the School of Medicine’s a cappella singing group.
The PSP leadership team thanks the patients for their educational contributions, the students who contributed to this event and the many faculty and staff who support the program through patient referrals and educating our students.
