UVA Health is pleased to recognize and celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month with all of our UVA Health team members and patients over the month of June. This annual month-long celebration honors the rich history, societal contributions, and cultural significance of the LGBTQ+ community worldwide.
This year, LGBTQ+ Pride Month’s theme is, “Reflect, Empower, Unite: Celebrating Gender Diversity,” providing an opportunity to honor our differences and learn from our past in shared commitment to creating an inclusive environment for all.
There are a number of events scheduled for the month. To kick off the month, please join us today for the UVA Health LGBTQ+ Pride Month Celebration hosted by the Office of Diversity and Community Engagement and co-sponsored by the LGBTQ+ and Transgender Advisory Committee and UVA Cancer Center’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Office. All team members and students are welcome.

We are also thrilled to celebrate the UVA Health University Medical Center’s designation as a “Leader” in the 2024 Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) by achieving a score of 100. This national LGBTQ+ benchmarking tool evaluates over 2,200 healthcare facilities on their policies and practices related to the equity and inclusion of LGBTQ+ patients, visitors, and employees. We are proud of this achievement and further empowered to continue our journey to provide excellent care across all of UVA Health.
