As we continue our journey toward transforming health and inspiring hope for all Virginians and beyond, I want to recognize the contributions of our incredible physician trainees who are a part of the School of Medicine’s Graduate Medical Education (GME) training program. Our impressive group of 850 physicians actively engaged in 96 residency and fellowship programs currently, represents the future of medicine and plays a critical role in influencing healthcare innovation at UVA Health.
It’s time to celebrate the invaluable contributions of our trainees during GME Trainee Appreciation Week! Please join me in thanking our residents and fellows for their unwavering pursuit of excellence in education and tireless efforts toward patient care. In addition to the rigors of training and mentoring medical students, they are extremely committed to their work, often laboring long hours, sacrificing time away from loved ones, and wholeheartedly contributing to all four of our missions: patient care, research, education, and community outreach.
Let’s collectively express our gratitude and admiration for their remarkable efforts and make our trainees feel valued and appreciated not just this week but every week.
Residents and Fellows, you are the heart of our mission – we respect and admire you – thank you for all you do!
With gratitude,
Melina R. Kibbe, MD
