Jeff Schroeder joins the School of Medicine as Director of Information Systems and Technology Solutions effective July 31, 2023. He will provide leadership, oversight and strategic guidance for the school’s information technology priorities in support of the school’s mission and initiatives, enhancing relationships with UVA Health and UVA IT departments.
Mr. Schroeder comes to UVA from the United States Army where he served as Chief of Staff for the U.S. Army Pacific Region Communications Headquarters in Honolulu, Hawaii. He oversaw and directed the administrative, personnel, fiscal and operational efforts for the Army’s Pacific-wide communications provider. Prior to that role, Mr. Schroeder was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for United States Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany where he directed the IT network’s services delivery and digital transformation across Africa, Europe and the U.S. Mr. Schroeder’s vast leadership and IT experience will be invaluable in guiding the School of Medicine’s IT strategy, service delivery, systems lifecycle, capability evolution and transformational initiatives.
Mr. Schroeder holds a master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S Naval War College, Newport, RI. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Central Texas. In his free time, he likes to ride his motorcycle, travel and spend time with his friends and amazing family which include his wife, Charlene, and 3 children Meghan, Samantha, and Emmet (and their dogs Tucker and Bourbon.)
