COO Jeremy Sibiski represented UVA Health and the SOM as a panelist for the 2022 Virginia Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Conference on June 2. The session was titled “Challenges and Opportunities in Ensuring a Robust Supply of Health Care Professionals.” Concerns over a health care workforce shortage have been long known, but the pandemic exacerbated the issue. The panel included leaders in education and industry, discussing the workforce shortage, education pipeline, and short- and long-term solutions for growing the workforce.
The conference, titled “Road to Recovery: Health Care in a Post-Pandemic Virginia,” had more than 300 attendees who heard from business and health care leaders regarding workforce challenges in the industry, transformation in the delivery of care, and how we can work together to ensure a healthy, productive workforce.
