To keep you informed of the enormous progress taking place at our Fontaine Research Park — where we are currently constructing the UVA Paul and Diane Manning Institute of Biotechnology, as well as a new parking garage and power plant — we wish to share the following positive update.
In May, we began a blasting process to get the foundations underway for these new facilities, a process we were expecting to last until the end of July. Today, we are excited to report that we are ahead of schedule and that blasting concluded last week. As such, for team members working at Fontaine and those visiting the site during the week, please be aware of the following operational changes starting July 8:
- U9 permit holders will be able to return to parking at Fontaine Research Park. There will no longer be any special permits.
- Valet parking will no longer be provided.
- The Health System Shuttle will return to its original schedule, operating every 30 minutes between the West Complex/Pinn Hall/University Hospital and Fontaine.
- Our Purple Line will continue until July 12.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we continue to navigate this important construction project together. If you have questions, please visit the Fontaine construction website for additional information or email fontaineconstruction@virginia.edu.
