Each year, UVA’s chapter of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) works with Charlottesville’s City of Promise to sponsor a holiday toy drive for the children of the Westhaven community. In this toy drive, children create their holiday wish lists, and through tremendously generous UVA students, faculty, and staff, we collect gift cards and donations that make these lists a reality! Similar to last year, SNMA is collaborating with UVA’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office to collect donations. All additional proceeds beyond their goal will go toward buying grocery and gas station gift cards for the Westhaven community.
This year, they are asking for donations (of any amount) to make these children’s holiday season a joyous event and memory. Please consider donating to the Holiday Toy Drive through:
- Physical donations (gift cards/checks/cash) that can be dropped off in the Medical Education building student lounge, to the Health Sciences Library or the toy drive organizer, Joselyne Tessa Tonleu – M2
- Donations may also be sent directly to UVA SNMA’s Venmo account (@UVASNMA).
The drive will be ongoing from December 1-23. Physical donations will be picked up until December 17 and virtual donations may be sent through December 23.
