Physician Engagement and “The Big 6” – Focus on CLABSI

Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections (CLABSI), one of the “Big 6” , safety measures that we are tracking with Be Safe methodology. A group of critical care physicians and working with Be Safe methods to develop standard work in the Medical Simulation Center. This month they will be rolling this work out on a pilot basis in the Surgical Trauma Burn Intensive Care Unit (STBICU).

The Big 6 are:

  • Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections (CLABSI)
  • Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUDI)
  • Hospital Acquired Pressure Wounds (HAPU)
  • Team Member Injuries
  • Patient Falls
