Welcome Blake Herring, MSN, RN, OCN, NE-BC, as administrator of UVA Cancer Center, starting October 3, 2022.  Blake joins UVA from Stanford Health Care in Stanford, California where he is currently director of clinical operations, managing more than 330 staff members. Blake previously served as assistant patient care manager for an inpatient cancer unit and as director of clinical operations for Stanford’s South Bay Cancer Center.

Blake has held multiple roles at Stanford. In addition to the roles above, he also served as director of patient care and treatment at Moores Cancer Center, which is part of UC San Diego Health. He earned his bachelor’s in nursing from William Carey University and a master’s in nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington. Blake is also oncology nurse certified and nurse executive board certified.

Blake also has extensive expertise and experience in health IT and will bring these important skills with him to UVA.  As at Stanford, these skills will prove essential in improving our patient care and clinical operations.

In welcoming Blake, we also acknowledge interim UVA Cancer Center administrator, Adam Momper, for providing strong leadership and ensuring the continuity of our patient services during this time of transition. After Blake’s arrival, Adam will return his full focus to being our Supply Chain Administrator.

UVA Cancer Center is a source of great pride for us all. It is one of only 52 cancer centers in the country to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. We are deeply grateful to all members of the Oncology service line for creating and sustaining a reputation for delivering exceptional care to patients throughout Virginia and beyond.
