The UVA Brain Institute is pleased to announce a request for proposals for the 2023 cycle of the Human Neuroscience Pilot Grants program. The deadline to submit applications is August 15, 2023 at 11:59pm EST.
The UVA Brain Institute offers seed funding for transformative neuroscience research involving humans, including investigation of normal or abnormal brain function and clinical or translational research. This funding mechanism will also support research using large public databases and electronic medical records.
The program seeks to support groundbreaking work that will differentiate our research enterprise. Proposed projects may be on any subject related to human neuroscience. Collaboration is encouraged but not required.
Successful proposals will have a high potential for scientific impact and plans for pursuing subsequent extramural funding. Awards of up to $75,000 will be given for the duration of up to 15 months (project period ends 12/31/2024). A 6-month No Cost Extension may be requested and will be evaluated based on performance. Award announcements will be made as early as October 1, 2023, and no later than November 1, 2023.
After initial review, applicants may be invited for a short 5 – 10 minute oral presentation to the review committee for final selection. No written reviews will be returned to applicants.
