The University of Virginia’s Division of Thoracic Surgery earned a three-star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons for Lobectomy for Lung Cancer. Only the top 5% or so of programs nationwide achieve this rating. Patient outcomes from January 2019 through December 2021 show an extremely low level of operative mortality and major morbidity.
