SNMA Organizes “Week of Reflection and Positivity”

UVA’s chapter of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is holding a “Week of Reflection and Positivity,” Aug. 6-12. This is a series of events to reflect on and demonstrate our resilience as a community. See below for details:

  • August 6, 8, & 10
    Noon – 2 p.m. | Front of Claude Moore Library Health Science Library
    “Charlottesville is a place for ____” Unity T-shirt campaign. Stop by to take photos and send a positive message to the community. Unity T-shirts will be available for sale ($17 cash Venmo to @UVASNMA). Funds will be donated to an organization vested in promoting minority interests in Charlottesville.
  • August 8
    6-8 p.m. | UVA Medical Education Building Learning Studio
    Viewing of VICE documentary from events around Aug. 12, 2017. Round table discussion follows.
  • August 10
    12:30 p.m. | location TBD
    T-shirt group photo day. Wear your unity T-shirt and join in a group photo.
  • August 11 
    9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. | Loaves & Fishes Pantry
    Volunteer community service at Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry (2050 Lambs Road). Loaves & Fishes provides groceries at no cost to low-income families within and around the Charlottesville community. Will take up to 20 volunteers. Sign up here
  • August 12
    5-7 p.m. | UVA Medical Education Building Learning Studio
    SNMA-Mulholland Potluck. Our community coming together to share a meal is the perfect symbol of togetherness that we need to conclude the week. The SNMA invites all to join.
  • Week-Long Social Media Takeover
    Share ways we are positively impacting our community. Take a photo with your T-shirt and share with the hashtags #Charlottesvillleisaplaceforand #UVASNMA.
