Biomedical Sciences graduate students, Nicole Kirk, Kendall Bromley, and Alexys Riddick have recently established a chapter of Project Bridge at UVA driven by a passion for research communication and the ultimate goal of engaging the community in current biomedical research being conducted at UVA.
For their first event, Project Bridge has teamed up with the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center to put on a “Gong Show.” The Gong Show is a classic event hosted by all Project Bridge chapters which will include graduate students, post-docs and principal investigators presenting their research using only plain language in a short, 3-minute talk. The catch – if any research jargon is used, anyone in the audience can ring the “gong”, and the speaker will have to rephrase their research to make it more digestible. All are encouraged to join!
