Medicine in Motion Submission Guidelines
The University of Virginia (UVA) Medicine in Motion newsletter exists to communicate timely and important information that is relevant to the missions of the UVA School of Medicine.
The deadline for submissions is 12pm on Monday for the story to be considered for that week’s issue.
The newsletter is published on Thursdays at 6:00am ET.
Faculty, staff, trainees, alumni and students may submit news, updates, stories, and events for consideration in the newsletter.
Please include high quality images with your post submission in the indicated field.
- Events not affiliated with the UVA School of Medicine or the University of Virginia.
- Soliciting participation in university-related assignments, coursework or research projects (i.e., personal course projects, studies, surveys or clinical trials).
- Commercial projects or initiatives for monetary gain (selling items or services).
- Announcement of a new faculty member unless in top leadership role.
- The election of a faculty member to an endowed professorship (these faculty are recognized at a Dean’s Office Faculty Awards program each year).
- Due to the high volume of events, we cannot guarantee events will be publicized.
- Please submit a minimum of 3 weeks prior to the date of the event to allow for flexibility on when it will be published.
- The School of Medicine staff will edit copy for appropriate style and language.
- Submissions should be non-promotional, adopting a “tell-not-sell” tone. They should be informative, educational, entertaining, timely and relevant.
- Submissions must be in accordance with relevant state and University policies and established practices. UVA School of Medicine will not publish or permit to be published events and information that the University considers offensive, improper, obscene, dangerous, libelous, false or illegal or which violate a third party’s right of privacy.
- There is no guarantee your submission will be published. Content is published at the discretion of the Dean’s office.
