Zhijian “James” Chen, PhD

Title of Lecture: “The Enemy Within – How Does the Immune System Sense DNA as Danger?”
Dr. Chen has made important contributions in the areas of innate immunity and cell signaling. He is a Fellow of the AAAS and elected to both the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medicine. He also received the Merck Award from the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the Lurie Prize from the NIH Foundation, the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences, the Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize, the Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research and the Paul Ehrlich and Ludwig Darmstaedter Prize, among many other honors.
