Five School of Medicine faculty have been selected to serve as University of Virginia Shannon Center Mid-Career Fellows from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2027. The Shannon Center Mid-Career Fellowship program was launched last year to honor outstanding mid-career faculty from across the University who have made significant contributions to their departments and schools, but not yet chairholders of endowed professorships. Nominated by their deans, each Shannon Center Mid-Career Fellow receives funding to advance their research, scholarship, or special projects.

- Kwon Park, PhD, Associate Professor, Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology
The Shannon Center Mid-Career Fellowship Program is part of the Shannon Center for Advanced Studies, which was established 60 years ago in 1964, during the tenure of former UVA President Edgar F. Shannon, Jr. The Shannon Center’s endowment funds supports recruitment and retention of outstanding University faculty members, further strengthening University programs and research initiatives.
