Department of Surgery faculty, Kenneth Brayman, MD, PhD, Preeti Chhabra, PhD, and Jianjie Ma, PhD, received 2023 LaunchPad Diabetes Awards. These internal awards from the Office of Vice President for Research provide $100,000 per year over two years to support translational research projects focused on improving care for patients with diabetes. The fund was established in 2009 and has funded 58 projects (with 8 renewals) including 9 Ignite pilot projects.
Drs. Brayman and Chhabra’s project is titled “Pre-clinical Advancements in Polyclonal IgM Therapeutics: Targeting Type 1 Diabetes.” This is Drs. Brayman and Chhabra’s third LaunchPad grant.
Dr. Ma’s project is titled “Controlling NETosis to Treat Diabetic Wound.” Dr. Ma is the principal investigator along with participating investigators Shayn Pierce-Cottler, PhD, and Scott T. Hollenbeck, MD. This is Dr. Ma’s second LaunchPad grant.
