Blasting begins at Fontaine Research Park May 28 and is expected to run through July 31. Rock removal is required to build both the Institute of Biotechnology and Fontaine Parking Garage. Blasting is the least impactful option for removing the rock. Blasts will occur Monday through Friday, at noon and at 3:30 p.m., and will sound like a series of firecrackers firing in sequence. It will only last a few seconds. Pedestrian and vehicular traffic around the area will be stopped for the duration of each blasting period, which is expected to be approximately 10 minutes. Details.

There have been several important updates to the parking situation at Fontaine Research Park, including extended hours and an on-call number for the Health System shuttle, extended hours for the University Transit Service bus, and the addition of six golf carts.
