Being an educator requires a high degree of social and emotional competence, especially in dealing with students who have additional challenges due to high stress levels and need guidance navigating the complex issues of our current times. This semester the UVA Mindfulness Center is offering a Mindfulness for Educators program, so that faculty and teachers can participate in Jon Kabat-Zinn’s 8 week mindfulness-based stress reduction program and learn how mindfulness might benefit them in their role as educators and how to bring these practices into the classroom.

The program will be led by Susanna Williams, who has experience teaching mindfulness to a variety of populations including undergraduate students, medical students, faculty, health care providers and the general public. She has a PhD in Education, is a certified yoga instructor and has studied Contemplative Pedagogy. She is a long-time mindfulness practitioner and teaches ongoing mindfulness classes through the UVA Mindfulness Center. (20 CME credits)

Instructor: Susanna Williams
Tuesdays
Feb. 16 – April 5 (no class during Spring break)
6:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Location: Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center, 1240 Lee Street, Charlottesville, VA 22903

For more information and registration please click here

Accreditation: The University of Virginia School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
