{"id":2390,"date":"2021-11-22T16:25:47","date_gmt":"2021-11-22T21:25:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.med.virginia.edu\/mindfulness\/?p=2390"},"modified":"2021-11-22T16:25:47","modified_gmt":"2021-11-22T21:25:47","slug":"research-update-31","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.med.virginia.edu\/mindfulness\/2021\/11\/22\/research-update-31\/","title":{"rendered":"Research Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Impact of Psychological Interventions with Elements of Mindfulness on Empathy, Well-Being, and Reduction of Burnout in Physicians<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This systematic review aimed to analyze psychological interventions with elements of mindfulness that have been used with physicians to reduce burnout and foster empathy and well-being. A total of 18 studies conducted in five different countries were included. \u00a0Different types of interventions were evaluated, including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, other mindfulness programs, and two smartphone apps.\u00a0 Regardless of the specific type of psychological intervention with mindfulness that was used, the results, in general, demonstrated a positive impact on empathy, well-being, and burnout among participating physicians.
