{"id":1586,"date":"2018-12-20T16:32:40","date_gmt":"2018-12-20T21:32:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.med.virginia.edu\/mindfulness\/?p=1586"},"modified":"2019-02-28T09:43:43","modified_gmt":"2019-02-28T14:43:43","slug":"research-update-13","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.med.virginia.edu\/mindfulness\/2018\/12\/20\/research-update-13\/","title":{"rendered":"Research Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>The Effects of a Modified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program for Nurses: A Randomized Controlled Trial<\/h3>\n<p>This study from China evaluated the effects of a mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program on stress, affect, and resilience among nurses.\u00a0 A total of 110 nurses were randomly assigned to intervention or control groups. The intervention was a modified MBSR program which met for two hours every week for eight weeks. All participants completed questionnaires at baseline, immediately after the intervention, and after three months. The intervention group showed significant decreases in stress and negative affect and increases in positive affect and resilience after the intervention.
