Dr. Salerno has been in the field of MRI for 16 years and holds multiple patents related to the development and application of novel pulse sequences for MRI. He has received numerous research awards, and has published extensively in the areas of MRI, cardiovascular MRI and multi-modality cardiovascular imaging. His research is supported by the AHA and the National Institutes of health.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CME learning objectives<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Recognize appropriate indications for cardiovascular imaging.<\/li>\n<li>Describe the pros and cons of different cardiac imaging modalities for particular clinical scenarios.<\/li>\n<li>Select appropriate CV imaging techniques to evaluate cardiac function, valvular heart disease, chest pain, and cardiomyopathy.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Disclosures<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nDr. Salerno reports the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Grant support from NIH<\/li>\n<li>Grant support from Astra Zeneca<\/li>\n<li>Research support from Siemens Healthcare<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><em>Medicine Grand Rounds is offered every Wednesday throughout the year by the UVA Department of Medicine, in association with UVA\u2019s Office of Continuing Medical Education.
