Message from the Chair – March 2024

University of Virginia Dr Mitchell Rosner

I always feel that February is a long month, and it is even longer this year. The days remain short, and the weather stays cold. Thus, I always look forward to March and the promise of spring. I hope everyone is doing well, and I wanted to highlight some key Department issues that are upcoming: (1) please stay abreast of the compensation plan changes as we start to develop the Department Compensation Committee, which will start their work in March; (2) also, there are important changes to the United on Access program that affords faculty greater flexibility while still achieving our goal of improving access for patients.

In this issue, we highlight the amazing achievements of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. This Division has grown in every respect under the leadership of Dr. Imre Noth. It now boasts one of the country’s most robust research and education programs and leading clinical programs. Many thanks to the entire Division for their dedication and excellence.

Lastly, it is also a good time to remember the recent passing of Dr. Charles Malpass, a friend and colleague whom we greatly miss. We will celebrate Dr. Malpass and his legacy with a special upcoming Medicine Grand Rounds. Please try to attend this memorial event.
