Another academic year has been completed, and I am really proud of the Department’s many accomplishments over a challenging year. We saw unprecedented demands for clinical care, and we were up for the challenge while continuing to flourish in our other missions. For example, our internal medicine residency program was ranked in the top 6% of all programs by Doximity, and our total extramural funding reached an all-time record at over $80 million. In addition, while our StandPoint survey clearly showed areas we need to focus on, it also demonstrated that our culture is strong and marked by a commitment to one another and our community. Over the next few weeks, the Department of Medicine leadership team will work on priorities for this academic year which we will share with you for feedback.
Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for your continued hard work, dedication, and commitment. The Department of Medicine is only great because of you! Coming out of the pandemic with increased pressures to see more patients and the many other stressors we face, it has been a tough time. Collectively, what we have accomplished over the past year is amazing! Please look out for several upcoming town halls where we will review these accomplishments. Many thanks, and I hope you enjoy some time off over the next month.
With best wishes,
