We are delighted to share this year’s match as we prepare for the intern class of 2019! We are blessed to have another outstand group coming from a diversity of schools and states that embody our commitiment ot excellence in all domains, including diversity and inclusion. We have two categorical residents staying here at UVA and two preliminary interns staying as well.
Schools represented in our match of all tracks include: UVA (4); Mississippi (4); UNC (2), Tennessee (2); LSU (2), Rochester (2), Thomas Jefferson, Tulane, UT-Houston, Ohio St, Puerto Rico, VCU, Michigan St, Miami, EVMS, Maryland, South Carolina, Florida, Albany, Rutgers, Penn St, Vanderbilt, Mercer, Temple, Pittsburgh, and Iowa (1 each).
Thank you to our chief residents: Walid, Carrie, Amy, and Anthony, and the faculty on our intern selection committee who screened nearly 1800 applications; the many faculty and fellows who assisted in interviews; the administrative team who ran a smooth process before and during interview days, and of course, many thanks to our residents for their commitment to making time for our applicants on interview days – always our best advertisement for the training program! ~ Brian Uthlaut, MD
