Andrew M. Southerland is an assistant professor in the Division of Vascular Neurology, Departments of Neurology and Public Health Sciences in the University of Virginia Health System. His research interests include genetics of cervical artery dissection and other non-atherosclerotic vasculopathies, stroke and related health disparities in rural and underserved communities, novel rural telestroke applications and acute stroke clinical trials.
Learning objectives:
1. Highlight the growing integration of mobile health (mHealth) into clinical practice
2. Consider how mobile health technology can be applied to geographic disparities in prehospital stroke care
3. Learn about new research investigating ambulance-based “mobile telestroke
