Robin J. Hamill-Ruth, MD, is an associate professor in the UVA Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, and director of Clinical Pain Research.

Note: Attendance will be counted as credit towards state-mandated opioid training.

Learning objectives:
1. To understand the differences between the Federation of State Medical Board Guidelines for Safe Opioid Prescribing for Chronic Pain and the CDC guidelines.
2. To be aware of the 2017 Virginia opioid prescribing regulations.
3. To be familiar with the Federation of State Medical Board safe opioid prescribing guidelines, including monitoring for adherence: how to do it right.
4. To better understand how regulatory and legal authorities identify concerning opioid prescribing.
