Learning objectives:
- Define burnout and discuss its significance during residency
- Review UVA burnout rates compared to national data
- Review interventions to address burnout nationally and within UVA internal medicine residency
- Discuss implementation of innovative conference styles to enhance resident education
- Review recent changes to the infrastructure of the inpatient hematology/oncology service
- Describe the impact of these changes on correcting pre-existing issues and duty hour violations
- Discuss the recent and future changes to the structure of the general medicine service
- Discuss the creation of a multidisciplinary community outreach program
