Take A Hike

DOM residency administrators celebrated the end of a long recruiting season on a warm, late-winter day with a hike up Carter’s Mountain. (Photo, right.) Thank you all for your hard work!

Speaking About Innovation

DOM Director of Education Joy Hilton was honored with an invitation to be a plenary speaker at the Coordinator’s Forum at this year’s ACGME annual meeting, held in Orlando in early March.

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) is the body responsible for accrediting most graduate medical training programs (including internships, residencies, and fellowships) in the U.S.

The theme for the coordinators forum was “Sparking Innovation,” and Joy gave an encore presentation of a talk she gave at a workshop last year, titled “Building an All-Star Administrative Team by Maximizing Performance, Mentorship, and Engagement.” Representatives from ACGME were in attendance at the 2016 meeting, and were impressed with her talk — and asked her to come to this year’s ACGME to give it again. Congratulations Joy!

Terry Bennett is a TAGME!

Last December, Terry Bennett learned that she successfully completed all requirements for “TAGME” (Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education) certification. She became the first, and only, member of the central education administrative team to successfully complete the training and examination process for TAGME, which recognizes an administrator who is “committed to promoting excellence in management of graduate medical education training programs.”
