I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts, where I met my husband Patrick. I went to Syracuse University for undergrad and attended medical school at Albert Einstein in New York City before making the move to Virginia.
We love everything that Charlottesville and the surrounding area has to offer. During my intern year we adopted our Great Dane, Seamus, who was a mere 14 lbs. when we got him. Now he is over 150 lbs., and is truly a gentle giant.
Why medicine? Why UVA?
After college I worked as a research technician in a hematology/oncology lab in Boston, and was fortunate to have a fantastic mentor who exposed me to the field of medicine. I chose UVA because on interview day I immediately felt like I belonged here. The residents clearly enjoyed spending time together, both inside and outside the hospital. UVA has a sense of pride and camaraderie that makes it a special place to train. No other program came close to replicating that feeling. I’ve never looked back.

Any words of advice for first-year residents?
(In order of importance)
- Don’t ever be afraid to ask for help.
- You can get pancakes for less than a dollar from the hospital grill, starting at midnight.
- Don’t sleep in a call room that’s close to a bathroom.
What about you would surprise us?
My wedding cost a total of $75. (Shout out to the Bronx County Courthouse!)
What are you usually doing in your spare time?
Netflix marathons, refinishing old furniture, hiking with Seamus, my giant blue Great Dane, visiting local wineries.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Sign language.
What’s one thing you always have in your fridge?
Cheese. And Dr. Pepper.
Where would you like to go on your next vacation?
Southeast Asia.
