Donald E. Wesson, MD, MBA, is president of the Diabetes Health and Wellness Institute in Dallas, Texas, and senior vice president of Baylor Scott and White Health Weight Management Services. Baylor Scott & White Health is the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in Texas, and one of the largest in the United States.

Trained as a nephrologist, Dr. Wesson receives support from the National Institutes of Health for research on the adverse health consequences of chronic diseases in vulnerable populations.


CME learning objectives:

1. Identify how current laboratory insights translate to patient benefit
2. Understand the need for translation of laboratory insights to community benefit to achieve population health
3. Recognize that translating laboratory insights to community benefit requires engagement of health systems with communities
