James F. Calland, MD, is an assistant professor of surgery at UVA with a clinical practice focused on trauma and emergency surgery. His research interests include surgical and trauma outcomes, injury prevention, and physiologic predictors of clinical decompensation.
Dr. Calland completed a residency in surgery at UVA, and a fellowship in traumatology and surgical critical care at the University of Pennsylvania.
CME learning objectives:
- Describe the current psychic state of the work environment created by their peers and institutional leadership.
- Conceptualize the personal and institutional leadership skills required to develop and achieve worthy goals.
- Gain insights into under-appreciated determinants of patient safety and organizational efficacy.
