Michael Salerno, MD, PhD, is an associate professor of medicine and radiology and medical imaging in the UVA Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. Dr. Salerno has been in the field of MRI for 16 years and holds multiple patents related to the development and application of novel pulse sequences for MRI. He has received numerous research awards, and has published extensively in the areas of MRI, cardiovascular MRI and multi-modality cardiovascular imaging. His research is supported by the AHA and the National Institutes of health.


CME learning objectives

  1. Recognize appropriate indications for cardiovascular imaging.
  2. Describe the pros and cons of different cardiac imaging modalities for particular clinical scenarios.
  3. Select appropriate CV imaging techniques to evaluate cardiac function, valvular heart disease, chest pain, and cardiomyopathy.
