Sheila Crowe, MD, is a professor of medicine and director of research in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of California San Diego. Previously she served as director of UVA’s Celiac Disease Center and Endoscopy Center. Her research explores the interaction of luminal contents, including microbes, with the gastrointestinal mucosa, which can lead to inflammatory disease and associated epithelial cancer.

Dr. Crowe completed a residency in internal medicine at McMaster University, and a fellowship at McMaster in gastroenterology.


CME learning objectives:

  1. Learn to assess celiac disease
  2. Learn about non-celiac gluten sensitivity
  3. Learn about wheat allergies
  4. Learn about GI problems resulting from wheat starch.
  5. Learn how to evaluate someone already on a GFD.
  6. Learn to differentiate and manage wheat-related disorders.
