Ewa Mandziak, a graduate student working in the lab of Nephrology faculty member Sundararaman Swaminathan, has been chosen to present her work at the 3rd Annual UVA Public Days, which will take place on the Lawn on Monday, April 11, from 3 – 5 pm.

“Public Days” is an initiative of President Sullivan, in collaboration with OpenGrounds, the Vice President for Research, and the Office of the Provost. Its purpose is to make the scholarly and creative achievements of UVA students (undergraduate, graduate and post-docs) visible to the larger public and showcase exemplary research.

Historically, “Public Day” occurred at the end of the semester, and was an opportunity for the general public to gather with the university community to hear essays read by students on topics of literature and science. The event was re-launched in 2014 and this year features an expanded showcase on the Lawn and multiple events at local community partner sites. Projects will be archived on the Public Days website.

Ewa’s project, “The Role of Iron in Progressive Kidney Disease and Fibrosis,” was selected to “represent the highest achievements of scholarship, research, and creative work from undergraduate and graduate students across Grounds,” according to the invitation letter.

Congratulations Ewa!
