Five UVA Residents Win Awards at ACP/Virginia Abstract Competition

Internal Medicine chief resident Scott Cornella offered congratulations to all of the residents who participated in an abstract competition sponsored by the Virginia chapter of the American College of Physicians. The ACP chapter meeting was held at the Omni in Charlottesville on March 4 and 5th. “All of our presenters placed in the top three in their respective divisions — a tremendous showing,” said Dr. Cornella.

And the winners are…

  • Dennis Kumral, MD: First place (and a trip to the national ACP meeting in San Diego) in the quality improvement category
  • Josh Wadlin, MD: First place in the poster competition
  • Melissa McShane, MD: Third place in the research category
  • Patty Wang, MD, and Ross Buerlein, MD: Third and second place, respectively, in the clinical vignettes category
