Club Red Asks: Do You Know Your Heart Age?

UVA Club Red’s 2016 Heart Month campaign is “Young at Heart,” which centers around the Heart Age Predictor tool that the CDC promoted this past fall. Using data from the Framingham Heart Study, researchers found that nearly half of all American women have a heart age that is 5 years older than their actual age; for select groups like African Americans, that number jumps as high as 11 years older. According to Shea Vaughn, communications coordinator for Club Red, “Through the campaign we are encouraging Club Red members, UVA employees, and the Charlottesville community to visit the Club Red website and take the Heart Age assessment, not only to discover their heart age but to learn why it is an important number to know.” The Heart Age Calculator and an explanatory video can be found at http://www.clubreduva.com/youngheart.

Vaughn also noted that Club Red has “developed a brand new website that is not only more visually appealing and easier to navigate but also gives us more opportunities to offer members fresh, useful content, including more video, quizzes, calculators and more. We formally launched the website to members on Tuesday, February 2.”
