Bert Kinsey, PharmD, PhD, an assistant professor in the Division of Nephrology, learned in December that he was awarded his first R01 grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The five-year grant supports his research on “Regulatory T Cells in Acute Kidney Injury” (NIH 1R01DK104963). Nephrology division chief Mark Okusa remarked, “This is a major award that recognizes Bert’s growing expertise in the field.” Dr. Okusa notes that Bert is also a member of the American Society of Nephrology’s grants review committee.
