On March 21, 2014, the University of Virginia Department of Pediatrics matched 12 outstanding medical students from 10 different schools as part of the National Residency Match Program.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery March presents a thrilling day for both the senior medical students about to embark on the next phase of their education and for the residency program that has new young physicians joining their residency program,\u201d said residency program director, Linda A. Waggoner-Fountain, MD. \u201cDr. Barrett Barnes and his team did a great job with recruitment of our new interns for next year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new interns will begin in mid-June with a week of orientation prior to starting clinical duties on June 24, 2014. A welcoming picnic for the new interns will be held on Saturday, June 21.<\/p>\n
