Q: What are you working on now?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A:<\/strong> We just finished our Dance Marathon programs and had a blast! Here are the details:<\/p>\n

HooThon at UVA and Madithon at JMU (Children\u2019s Miracle Network program events)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The University of Virginia\u2019s Dance Marathon event,\u00a0HooThon<\/a>, and James Madison\u2019s Dance Marthon event, Madithon<\/a>, brought together students, community members, and Miracle Kids.\u00a0 This year, UVA celebrated the event\u2019s 20th anniversary. Together, the events combined raised over $175,642 for UVA Children\u2019s Hospital. The money raised goes directly into research and programs that support the kids and families we serve.<\/p>\n

Q: What\u2019s next for the Development team?
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

A: <\/strong>We are excited for this year\u2019s Keswick Horse Show. Here are the details:<\/p>\n

Keswick Horse Show and Karats & Cocktails Event<\/strong><\/p>\n

UVA Children’s Hospital is proud to return as the beneficiary of the Keswick Horse Show, which will run from May 15 – 19, 2018. This is the Children\u2019s Hospital\u2019s 4th<\/sup> year of being the beneficiary of the weeklong show. Now in its 114th year, the Keswick Horse Show is one of the most prestigious horse shows in the country.<\/p>\n

During the horse show week, we host the Karats & Cocktails event on Thursday, May 17, from 5:30 \u2013 8:30pm. This year, the event will feature a trunk show of jewelry designs from MeiraT<\/a>. In the past we\u2019ve raise about $45,000 at this event and we are excited for another year. \u00a0Our guest speakers this year are Rachel Nauman, NICU Nurse Manager, and Ashley Cullop, a grateful NICU parent.<\/p>\n

Q: What has been the most exciting part of this year?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A: <\/strong>The Main Event gala, our largest fundraiser was really exciting this year. We were in a new venue, Common House, and bringing the event to downtown Charlottesville added a special touch. \u00a0We raised over $234,000 for the 7th<\/sup> floor renovation project.\u00a0 It was great to see so many UVA Children\u2019s Hospital physicians on the silent disco dance floor!<\/p>\n

We also received a $100,000 pledge from the Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band. Bama Works is partnering with UVA Children\u2019s Hospital to support family centered care programs for our patient families facing financial hardship.<\/p>\n
