Kids ages 6-17 with various medical and physical conditions, and other special needs, including at risk youth are welcome to apply! There is no enrollment fee to be part of Camp LIGHT. Campers will sign up for\u00a0ONE 4-day camp week. Dates are: week 1: NO CAMPERS-staff orientation-June 6-9, week 2: June 13-16, week 3 : June 20-23, week 4: June 27-30, week 5: July 11-14, week 6: July 18-21, week 7: July 25-28, and week 8: August 1-4. Choose from weeks 2-6 for campers with medical, physical, behavioral, and other diagnoses. Choose weeks 7 and 8 for at risk youth.\u00a0 Volunteer staff can apply for one or multiple sessions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spring Egg Hunt: An<\/strong> <strong>Egg Hunt for Children with Special Needs and their siblings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>March 24, 4-6pm, McIntire Park<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Meet firefighters and explore a fire truck<\/li>\n<li>Egg Hunt at 5pm and prizes<\/li>\n<li>Refreshments<\/li>\n<li>Fun for the whole family<\/li>\n<li>Free event<\/li>\n<li>Rain cancels<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Join the Charlottesville Professional Firefighters Association, Blue Ridge Care Connection for Children, Charlottesville Fire Department and UVA Children\u2019s Hospital for their annual Spring Egg Hunt. For questions and to RSVP, please call 434.924.0222 or email brccc@virginia.edu<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>UVA Named to National List of 100 Great Women\u2019s Health Programs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., March 4, 2016 \u2013 For the second consecutive year, University of Virginia Medical Center has been honored by Becker\u2019s Hospital Review among \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.beckershospitalreview.com\/lists\/100-hospitals-and-health-systems-with-great-women-s-health-programs-2015.html\">100 hospitals and health systems with great women\u2019s health programs<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese hospitals offer award-winning care to women in a variety of specialties, including gynecology, obstetrics, women-focused heart care and women-focused cancer care,\u201d according to Becker\u2019s introduction of the list of awardees.<\/p>\n<p>In honoring UVA, the national healthcare publication highlighted several programs dedicated specifically to women, including care for pelvic floor disorders, cancer, uterine fibroids and mental health. Becker\u2019s also highlighted UVA\u2019s designation in 2015 as a <a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom.uvahealth.com\/about\/news-room\/archives\/uva-earns-baby-friendly-hospital-award\">Baby-Friendly\u00ae Designated birth facility<\/a><strong> by Baby-Friendly USA<\/strong>. About 325 U.S. hospitals have earned the Baby-Friendly designation for their support of breastfeeding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis award is a tribute to the breadth of specialized care for women that we provide throughout Central Virginia and beyond,\u201d said Karin League, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, associate chief for <a href=\"http:\/\/childrens.uvahealth.com\">UVA Children\u2019s Hospital<\/a> and women\u2019s health.<\/p>\n<p>UVA\u2019s services for women include the <a href=\"http:\/\/uvahealth.com\/locations\/profile\/Midlife-Health-Center\">Midlife Health Center<\/a>, which specializes in caring for women 40 and older, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clubreduva.com\/\">Club Red<\/a>, a women\u2019s heart-health initiative to educate women about how to reduce their risk for heart disease. UVA has also added midwives \u2013 nurse practitioners who specialize in primary care and reproductive health, along with caring for newborns and women during pregnancy, birth and after giving birth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are always seeking ways to expand our care and services to better serve women throughout Virginia,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/uvahealth.com\/findadoctor\/profile\/James-Jef-E-Ferguson-II\">said Jef Ferguson, MD, MBA<\/a>, chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s time to sign up to be a volunteer at Camp LIGHT!
