NHMA has been awarded an NIH grant to coordinate a one day Medical Faculty Development Training Program with all expenses covered for 25 residents, fellows or\u00a0young faculty interested in a career in academic medicine. Deadline for application is March 14th.<\/p>\n

We need help disseminating the flyer and application below and note the physician applying does not need research experience, just a strong interest in their personal statement, a letter of support from their program allowing the time off, and CV.<\/p>\n

The agenda is being developed but will include NIH Leaders of National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases, other institutes who are Latino researchers who review grants to NIH, who conduct research and who work with academic research training across the nation. We will also have Senior Hispanic faculty discuss their academic careers and leadership, teaching and research tracks.\u00a0 In addition, during the NHMA Conference the rest of the weekend, we will be hosting a Plenary on Research — with Eliseo Perez-Stable, MD, Director of the National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities and many networking opportunities with physicians, health professionals, and health experts from across the nation. This is a great opportunity.<\/p>\n

We hope all 25 physicians can stay for the entire conference April 21-24 at the Renaissance Hotel, Washington, DC. NHMA is a nonprofit in Washington, DC representing the interests of 50,000 Hispanic physicians with a mission to improve the health of Hispanics and other underserved.
